Coach
Coach Jason Sampson—better known as “Sampson”—is one of CFS’s dedicated morning coaches, leading the 5:00 and 6:00 a.m. CrossFit classes. He loves CrossFit for its strong sense of community and constantly varied nature, making sure boredom never has a chance to settle in. Sampson’s favorite skill to teach is the snatch. It’s an intricate movement, and seeing the pride on an athlete’s face when everything finally clicks is one of the most rewarding parts of coaching for him.
When it comes to benchmark workouts, Sampson is torn between Helen and Annie. However, one thing is certain—he has absolutely no love for Karen or any workout involving wall balls. In his words, they’re completely soul-sucking.
Sampson’s favorite meal is always changing, but he’ll never turn down a quick and simple PB&J. His favorite place he’s traveled to is San Juan, Puerto Rico, where the energy and the people left a lasting impression. When he actually has time for hobbies, Sampson enjoys camping, paddleboarding, or simply floating on open water—nothing beats the peace it brings. He’s usually joined by his two dogs, Leo and Marcus, and his three guinea pigs: Alex, Milo, and Bear.
And finally, Sampson’s favorite dad joke:
How many tickles does it take to make an octopus laugh?
Ten… yep—tentacles.
