Hector

Coach Hector Vargas is one of CFS’s dedicated morning coaches, leading the 5:00 and 6:00 a.m. CrossFit classes most weekdays. Hector is passionate about the CrossFit community and the way it builds both physical and mental strength. He believes CrossFit challenges people to push beyond their limits while being supported by others who genuinely want to see them succeed. That shared struggle creates real connection and growth—both inside and outside the gym.

Hector’s favorite movements to coach are Olympic lifts and double-unders. He enjoys breaking down technique, building athletes’ confidence, and helping them realize they’re capable of more than they initially believe—especially with skills that can feel intimidating.

When it comes to benchmark workouts, Hector’s favorite is Helen, or really any workout that includes running. He enjoys workouts that test conditioning and pacing while still demanding strength and focus. Thrusters, however, are his least favorite movement. While he respects how effective they are, he definitely doesn’t enjoy them.

Outside the gym, Hector’s go-to food is a spinach salad because it’s fast and easy. Some of the coolest places he’s traveled to include Rome and Prague, both of which stood out to him for their history, culture, and the experience of exploring the cities on foot. In his free time, Hector enjoys training, coaching, reading, personal development, and spending time outdoors.

Hector’s favorite quote is, “Discipline equals freedom.” This mindset reflects his belief that consistency, structure, and showing up—especially on the hard days—create greater freedom, confidence, and balance in life, both inside and outside the gym.
